Write HTML

Saves the table as a plain HTML page with one table and an optional title. For a styled report, use Write Report.

Also known as: Web page

How it works

Type the HTML file name (output.html by default) and pick a Location; blank means the project folder. Title (optional) becomes the page title and the heading above the table. The file holds a single <table> with one row per input row and a plain built-in style: a sans-serif font, grey cell borders and a shaded header row, set inline so it looks the same in a browser or an email client. The write fails if the file already exists unless you tick Overwrite if the file already exists. Write formatted values writes values as they print upstream, such as $1,234.50, instead of raw numbers. The written file is passed on downstream as a File.

Inputs and outputs

Inputs

  • data — Table

Outputs

  • file — File

Settings

The Attributes panel of Write HTML, as in the app: the controls work, but nothing runs — there is no data behind it.

The same settings, as the Assistant writes them
{
  fileName: string
  directory?: string
  title?: string
  overwrite?: boolean
  formatValues?: boolean
}

fileName is a basename, e.g. "sales.html"; directory empty = the project folder; title becomes the page title and heading; overwrite off (default) fails rather than replacing an existing file; formatValues writes values as they print ("$1,234.50") instead of raw numbers

Example

You want a quick page of this week's top sellers to open in a browser. Set the HTML file to top-sellers.html, Title to "Top sellers, week 41", tick Overwrite if the file already exists and Write formatted values so prices print with the currency set in Format Table. For a styled, multi-section page use Write Report with the HTML format.
