Geocode
Finds the latitude and longitude for addresses or place names and adds a point. Works offline at city level, at street level with an address index you build, or through an online service you opt into.
Also known as: Address to coordinates
How it works
Pick the Address / place column and the Engine. Place (bundled, city/town level) matches against the bundled GeoNames list with no setup; Street (OSM address index) matches house and street level against the Address indexes you built in the app; Online (keyed endpoint) sends the addresses to a Nominatim-compatible Endpoint base URL you provide, with an optional API key secret from the vault, at the Requests per second you set (1 by default), and only after you tick the consent box. Tick City column when the town lives in its own column, because a bare street address matches the wrong town without it; Country column (optional) takes an ISO-2 code such as PL.
Every row gets geocode_lat, geocode_lon, geocode_name and a geocode_geometry point in EPSG:4326. The Place engine also adds geocode_country and the Street engine adds geocode_matched, which says whether a house or a street was matched. Rows with no match keep NULL in these columns.

Settings
The Attributes panel of Geocode, as in the app: the controls work, but nothing runs — there is no data behind it.

{
addressColumn: string
cityColumn?: string
countryColumn?: string
engine: "place"|"osm-index"|"online"
}bind cityColumn whenever the town/city lives in its own column — a bare street address matches the wrong town without it. // "place" = bundled GeoNames (city/town precision, no setup); "osm-index" = user-built OSM address index (street precision); "online" = keyed Nominatim endpoint (opt-in). Never emit index ids or paths — the app selects the installed index itself.
Example
A customer list has street and city columns. Set Address / place column to street, tick City column and pick city, and choose Street (OSM address index) with the index you built for your region. Rows with geocode_matched empty are the ones to check by hand.
