Excel Reader

Reads one worksheet of an Excel workbook, the first sheet unless you pick another.

Also known as: XLSX, spreadsheet

How it works

The node reads one worksheet of a workbook (.xlsx, .xlsm, .xls, .xlsb or .ods). Once the workbook is known, Sheet lists its visible sheets; leave it blank and the first visible sheet is read, with a warning naming the sheets that were skipped. Sheet cannot be bound to a loop item; to run once per sheet use the Sheets source instead. File path can be typed or bound to a column of the Loop's Current item, so a loop over several workbooks reads the same sheet from each.

Inputs and outputs

Inputs

None — this node starts a workflow.

Outputs

  • data — Table

Settings

The Attributes panel of Excel Reader, as in the app: the controls work, but nothing runs — there is no data behind it.

Example

A budget workbook whose first sheet is a cover page called Summary and whose numbers sit on Data. Pick Data in Sheet; the warning about the skipped sheet disappears and the preview shows the rows you want.
